About the role

Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (BROD) is a newly authorized Type 2 Charter part of the Discovery Schools Charter Management Organization. The school opened for the 2023-24 school year, starting with grades PreK4 - 4th and will eventually educate students in grades PreK - 8th at full capacity.

Responsibilities

• Teach Middle School English Language Arts
• Implement Louisiana Student Standards, the LEAP 2025 Assessment, Guidebooks 2.0, and Lucy Calkins’ Writing Workshop Model
• Lead extracurricular student activities (optional)

Requirements

• State Certification in Middle School English Language Arts
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Leadership (plus)
• Reading Specialist and/or ESL certification (desirable)
• 2+ years experience with children in a school setting (preferred)

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Louisiana Student Standards, the LEAP 2025 Assessment, Guidebooks 2.0, and Lucy Calkins’ Writing Workshop Model (asset)

Skills

• Effective communication skills
• Ability to lead extracurricular activities (optional)
