About the role
The Middle School Athletic Coordinator is responsible for organizing and administering the extracurricular athletic activities for middle school students. This includes fostering good school-community relations, scheduling and confirming athletic contests, and ensuring the safety and fair play of all participants.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization and administration of the overall program of extracurricular athletics.
- Foster good school community relations.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm athletic contest transportation requests of coaches.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm games/practices.
- Maintain master practice schedules, master game schedules, and master transportation requests.
- Schedule athletic contests in scheduling software.
- Assign and confirm athletic officials.
- Reschedule and communicate with athletic assigners and officials.
- Assign and confirm athletic contest game workers.
- Maintain master game workers schedules.
- Develop appropriate rules and regulations governing student conduct during after-school events.
- Aid in the development of budgets by providing equipment and supply requests when necessary.
- Arrange details of visiting teams' needs.
- Create, update, and share site information to visiting teams.
- Attend and supervise all home athletic contests.
- Assist with visiting teams' arrival and departure.
- Assist with athletic officials' arrival and departure.
- Assist with crowd control and other necessary obligations during the athletic contest.
- Organize and/or assist with the following events: End of Season Banquets, Back to School Sports Nights, Pre-season Coaches Meetings, and the like.
- Ability to calculate figures and perform any math functions associated with the position.
- Ability to apply common sense and deal with problems in a practical and reasonable manner.
- Ability to apply basic computer knowledge to the activity at hand.
- Ability to perform duties with all district and Board of Education guidelines and policies in mind.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the activity.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position that may vary widely depending on the activity.
Qualifications
- Valid Connecticut coaching certification or temporary emergency coaching permit.
- Updated CPR/First Aid training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sports offered at the middle school level.
