About the role
The Academic Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting scholars at HCZ Promise Academy, helping them achieve academic success and prepare for college.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct instruction to scholars, either individually or in small groups, using research-based strategies and resources.
- Analyze data to identify scholar needs and evaluate the effectiveness of academic support tiers, using assessment data for strategy, instruction, and accountability.
- Set scholar goals and instructional outcomes, based on specific scholar assessments in reading and math. Track scholar progress through various assessments and data collection methods, making adjustments to interventions as needed.
- Support in conducting assessments. Work with teachers and other staff to pinpoint scholars who are falling behind academically.
- Facilitate the coordination of the intervention programming with classroom teachers, MTSS Team, and school leaders.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure a coordinated approach to scholar support.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including providing supplemental instruction during extending learning opportunities (Academic Hour/Saturday Academy).
Requirements
- A dedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise Academy.
- A Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of teaching experience required.
- 2 - 5 years of teaching experience in an urban school setting preferred.
- New York State teaching certification required, in SWD preferred.

The Academic Intervention Specialist salary ranges from $71,268 - $145,714, determined based on years of relevant experience, certification, and education level.
