Middle Office Operations Analyst (contract)

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciliation & Exception Management: Perform daily cash and position reconciliations across multiple accounts, investigate breaks, identify root causes, and ensure timely resolution of exceptions.
  • Accounting Operations Support: Support middle office and accounting-related operational activities, including cash management processes, transaction reviews, quality control reporting, and operational oversight.
  • Document & Process Review: Review operational documents, reports, and transactions to confirm compliance with established procedures, internal controls, and risk management standards.
  • Research & Analysis: Analyze discrepancies, investigate operational issues, and document findings while escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Account Management: Maintain records, monitor account activity, and support a growing portfolio of accounts as responsibilities expand during training and onboarding.
  • Operational Risk & Controls: Identify potential process fail points, contribute to error reporting, and support continuous improvement efforts across operational workflows.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Utilize Excel and internal systems to analyze data, prepare reports, track operational activity, and support business decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with accounting, operations, middle office, and support teams to resolve issues and ensure operational accuracy.
  • Process Improvement & Technology Adoption: Leverage digital tools, automation initiatives, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency and enhance operational processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Excel functions such as VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and intermediate-level formulas
  • Basic understanding of financial markets and investment products, including equities, fixed income securities, bonds, and related financial terminology
  • PREFERRED: Financial services, middle office, accounting operations, fund accounting, or reconciliation experience
  • Mutual fund operations experience
  • Experience with cash and position reconciliations
  • Exposure to transaction processing, exception management, or operational control functions
  • Knowledge of operational risk management and quality control processes
  • Familiarity with process improvement initiatives, automation, or AI-enabled operational tools
