Middle Office Investment Banking Analyst
About the role
The Corporate Banking Middle Office Loan Trading Analyst is responsible for coordinating and supporting the primary and secondary loan trading settlement process including funding and documentation workflow. This role supports Syndications, Business Lines, and Trading Desk groups, ensuring the smooth operation of loan trading activities which directly impacts the bank's profitability and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review LSTA standard loan trading documentation such as Trade Confirmations, Assignment & Assumption Agreements, and Pricing Documents for primary and secondary trade settlements.
- Distribute settlement packages to various internal teams for processing.
- Communicate and escalate any trade issues and discrepancies to internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and manage high volume of loan trading closings and perform reconciliations between ClearPar and trade applications (i.e., Bloomberg, Sentry, etc.).
- Review and advise on funding mechanics and operational requirements according to Operations policies.
- Review credit agreements and book credit lines into MUFG’s booking system.
- Maintain a high level of customer service with quick response times and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare various reports for reconciliation (daily and weekly).
- Liaise and coordinate pre-closing requirements with internal and external stakeholders (Portfolio Management, Syndications, Credit, Loan and Agency Services, Finance, Legal, and Back Office).
- Aid with ad-hoc inquiries.
- Execute best practices of control, risk mitigation and escalation.
- Participate in projects and assist with ad-hoc inquiries; provide input with various working groups, with the goal to continually enhance performance and efficiency.
- Comply with Banking Regulations and Standard Practices daily.
- Monitor and manage cases in ServiceCloud.
Qualifications
- Understanding of the Loan product/syndicated Loan business and financial services, specifically within Corporate Banking.
- Prior experience working in a Corporate or similar environment that emphasizes multi-tasking and prioritization.
- Proven ability to collaborate with team members and senior management across and within the lines of business.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Efficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate in a challenging and rapidly changing environment with a desire to accept new assignments.
- Ability to learn new principles and dynamic systems quickly.
- Critical decision-making abilities to identify, escalate, and propose solutions to problems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg, ClearPar and LSTA guidelines is a plus.
- Proven ability to perform under pressure and produce results.
- Commitment to performing at the highest level at all times.
- Proven history of strong work ethics and office conduct.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
Education
Undergraduate degree plus 1-3 years of Syndicated Loan Trading experience or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
Pay
The typical base pay range for this role is between $70K - $85K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
