As a Middle/High School Math Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge for their educational foundation.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
- Create purposeful and effective lesson plans that maximize time on task and incorporate real-world, application-based learning opportunities.
- Present subject matter to maximize learning opportunities and utilize a variety of student learning modalities, including differentiated instruction.
- Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs, and maintain accurate and complete student records.
- Assess student strengths and weaknesses frequently, provide appropriate activities to address needs, and generate progress reports as required.
- Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
- Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
- Coordinate class field trips as required and prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
- Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, and share this knowledge to improve the school’s curriculum.
- Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study, and in the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Become familiar with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of regular classroom activities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, and ensure it is clean, safe, and includes student-generated work on display.
- Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support their growth.
- Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules of classroom/playground behavior in accordance with CSUSA policy.
- Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals, and plan individual/group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation upon request of supervisory personnel.
- Participate in curriculum planning during designated meetings and incorporate diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed for the instructional program.
- Strive to establish cooperative relations with parents/guardians and communicate clearly, consistently, and positively via appropriate mediums.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and cooperate with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
- Participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
- Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Command of grades/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
- Understanding of and commitment to company values.
- Successful results of criminal and employment background check.

Work Environment
- Usual school working conditions, which may be noisy during high student traffic.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
- Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
