Mid/Sr System Administrator
About the role
The selected individual will provide system administration support for a large, complex network environment with geographically distributed systems. The role supports system engineering requests by delivering solutions that meet operational needs, and by upgrading, sustaining, and maintaining existing capabilities. The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that includes multiple air-gapped systems, each with its own domain and supporting infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Install applications, administer systems and processes, and ensure issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
- Ensure server and desktop configurations are optimized and running continuously and efficiently.
- Perform security management and application performance optimization functions.
- Administration/sustainment of a system that provides a web-based application for storing, sharing, and distributing information.
- Create and maintain complex server enclaves, including analyzing system scanning reports, patching, cert renewals, vulnerability management assessments, and active directory configurations.
- Identify and correct hardware and software issues.
- Respond to system administration, operations, and maintenance problems, and develop re-work solutions.
- Create and maintain documentation of complex server/network environments to ensure that clear, concise and accurate information is readily available for incident resolution.
- Communicate with users and external support personnel regarding system outages and upgrades, and confer with upper management regarding recommended resolution options.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience as a systems administrator providing direct support to end users and technical staff (developers, testers, engineers, etc.).
- Proficient with Windows Server 2012R2, 2016, 2019, and Active Directory.
- Experience with Linux and Microsoft-based servers and workstations.
- Experience with Windows 2019.
- Experience with OS and Application Hardening to include DISA, Best Practices, and High Assurance environments.
- Experience with software/hardware deployment, patches, and operating systems, and basic system backup and restore functions.
- Experience with and/or be familiar with SALT, Ansible, Splunk, Puppet, SolarWinds, Nessus.
- Experience with and/or have knowledge of Red Hat 7 and 8, and VMWare.
- Experience with Apache Tomcat, IIS, and/or SQL server database.
- Experience documenting and providing information for security accreditation and certification.
- Solid understanding of advanced security protocols and standards.
- Experience with Network Security Technologies (e.g. Multiple Domain, PKI, SSP, and Vulnerability Assessment).
- Experience with High Assurance platforms and application integration testing methods.
- Experience with both Client and Server virtualization environments.
- Experience with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and reimaging hardware.
- Knowledge of PKI systems which use HSMs to validate key and NTP for synchronization.
- Experience optimizing system operations.
- A solid understanding of information security principles and practices.
- Experience with or familiarity with software and security architectures.
- Experience or familiarity with the following systems: Windows/Linux operating systems, VMware, and Networking: Switches, Routers, LANs, & cabling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with SQL Server.
- SALT and Python scripting experience.
- Experience supporting a software configuration management and development environment.
- Experience working in an Agile Development Environment or on an Agile Team.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
