About the role

This position offers the opportunity to directly apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. You will work on a variety of power, energy, and industrial projects, developing structural design documents and preparing technical specifications. You will also conduct structural analyses, including complex loading conditions like wind, seismic, and pressurization.

Responsibilities

  • Create calculations and develop structural design documents for power, energy, and industrial projects.
  • Conduct structural analyses using state-of-the-art computer tools, focusing on steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for structural condition assessments, construction coordination, and field verification of designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in structural design engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of loads analysis for structural supports and design integrity.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Structural Engineering calculations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background and interest in behavior of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Related engineering internship or co-op work experience.
  • Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.

Skills

  • Proficiency with automation and AI tools to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
  • Experience in programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation.

Schedule

Hybrid work schedule with in-office work 3 days per week.
