Mid-Level Project Engineer - Fisheries
Overview
Our client, an engineering firm specializing in renewable energy, water, and environmental solutions, is seeking a Mid-Level Project Engineer – Fisheries to support the design and construction of fish passage projects, including technical and nature-like fishways. This role will perform structural design and hydraulic analysis while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a licensed PE (or committed to licensure) with experience in fisheries or structural engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/MEP, and familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes. Experience supporting construction activities and working with regulators and biologists is preferred. This is a full-time, hybrid position open to candidates located in Redmond, WA, Strasburg, PA, or Pittsfield, ME.
Pay & Benefits
Pay range: $95,000 – $112,000 DOE

Responsibilities
- Support the design and construction of fish passage projects, including technical and nature-like fishways
- Perform structural design and/or hydraulic analysis for fisheries engineering projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, hydraulic, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical)
- Develop design drawings and technical deliverables using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or MEP tools
- Contribute to innovative, project-specific engineering solutions using sound fundamentals and creative thinking
- Cookordinate with regulators, biologists, and stakeholders during design and permitting phases
- Support construction-phase activities and provide engineering input as needed
- Participate in hydropower, renewable energy, and ecological restoration projects in the U.S. and Canada
- Learn from and work under the guidance of senior and principal engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or commitment to obtain licensure within one year
- 6+ years of experience in fisheries engineering or a closely related field
- Structural (concrete and steel) design experience considered, with interest in fish passage design
- Knowledge of fisheries engineering guidelines, structural design standards, codes, and hydraulic design principles
- Experience designing structural components and/or performing hydraulic analyses
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Revit and/or MEP required
- Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes preferred
- Construction experience, fish hatchery experience, and/or nature-like fishway experience preferred
- Authorization to work permanently in the United States and ability to obtain authorization to work in Canada
- Willingness to travel and possession of a valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain additional state/provincial licenses as required
