MID-LEVEL LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY — EMPLOYMENT LITIGATION AND COUNSELING
About the role
We are seeking a mid-level associate to join its Employment Law practice. The position focuses on both employment litigation and counseling for a balanced plaintiff and defense practice. The group seeks an attorney who has experience in state and federal employment litigation.
The Practice
The associate will support and as appropriate take lead responsibility in matters that include:
- Employment litigation including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters
- Executive compensation disputes involving equity, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants
- Trade secret and unfair competition matters arising in the employment context
- Representation of both employers and employees in state and federal court and in arbitration
- Administrative proceedings before state and federal agencies
- Employment counseling on discipline, termination, leave practices, and policy drafting
- Drafting and negotiating separation agreements, settlement agreements, and restrictive covenants
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery requests and responses, and substantive briefs
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Appear at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Conduct workplace investigations and assist with internal employment assessments
- Strategically analyze cases and provide recommendations on risk and litigation posture
Qualifications
Three (3) or more years of employment law experience in both litigation and counseling. Experience in state and federal court required. Working knowledge of California labor and employment statutes and civil procedure. Wage and hour experience required. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Active membership in the California Bar, or ability to obtain admission promptly.
