MID-LEVEL LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY — EMPLOYMENT LITIGATION AND COUNSELING

About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level associate to join our Employment Law practice. The position focuses on both employment litigation and counseling for a balanced plaintiff and defense practice. The group seeks an attorney with experience in state and federal employment litigation.

Responsibilities

• Support and, as appropriate, take lead responsibility in matters including:
  • Employment litigation (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters)
  • Wage and hour litigation (class and representative actions)
  • Executive compensation disputes (equity, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants)
  • Trade secret and unfair competition matters arising in the employment context
  • Representation of both employers and employees in state and federal court and in arbitration
  • Administrative proceedings before state and federal agencies
  • Employment counseling on discipline, termination, leave practices, and policy drafting
  • Drafting and negotiating separation agreements, settlement agreements, and restrictive covenants
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery requests and responses, and substantive briefs
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Appear at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
• Conduct workplace investigations and assist with internal employment assessments
• Strategically analyze cases and provide recommendations on risk and litigation posture

Requirements

• Three (3) or more years of employment law experience in both litigation and counseling
• Experience in state and federal court required
• Working knowledge of California labor and employment statutes and civil procedure
• Wage and hour experience required
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
• Active membership in the California Bar, or ability to obtain admission promptly
