About the role

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer or Lead Software Engineer to join our Enterprise License Management (ELM) product team. ELM is the homegrown software tool State Farm uses to manage producer and adjuster licenses and appointments. It touches every Agent, Agent Team Member, Claim Rep and more—so the work has real impact for State Farm. This is an opportunity to help build, evolve, and support ELM. You'll join a diverse product team that works hard while keeping a fun, positive vibe. You'll work across the full tech stack from data to UI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain full-stack features using Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and JSON/JSONB data models
  • Write and optimize SQL queries (PostgreSQL, DB2)
  • Build and style UI components with HTML/CSS (including email templates)
  • Work with Spring Boot microservices and PostgreSQL (primary operational database, including JSONB querying)
  • Modernize legacy DB2 data systems
  • Deploy and manage AWS cloud infrastructure (data migration, tenant accounts, CloudTrace)
  • Use Terraform for infrastructure as code (dedicated elm-terraform repo with modules)
  • Leverage ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS) for container orchestration
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
  • Monitor application performance and user sessions with Dynatrace
  • Provide production support, monitoring, and incident response
  • Collaborate in an agile environment, challenging and refining ideas
  • Integrate AI tools into engineering workflows

Qualifications

  • Consistently high engagement and ownership over your work

  • Experience using AI tools in engineering work
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Pay

Potential starting salary range: $85,500 - $150,000. Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience. High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience. Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary. Compensation is based on a standard 38:45-hour work week.
