About the role

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer or Lead Software Engineer to join our Enterprise License Management (ELM) product team. ELM is the homegrown software tool State Farm uses to manage producer and adjuster licenses and appointments. It touches every Agent, Agent Team Member, Claim Rep and more — so the work has real impact for State Farm. This is an opportunity to help build, evolve, and support ELM. You'll join a diverse product team that works hard while keeping a fun, positive vibe. You'll work across the full tech stack from data to UI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain full-stack features using Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs
  • Work with JSON/JSONB data modeling and SQL (PostgreSQL, DB2)
  • Build and maintain UI components with HTML/CSS and React
  • Develop Java microservices using Spring Boot
  • Manage PostgreSQL (primary operational database, including JSONB querying) and DB2 (mainframe/legacy data — modernization in progress)
  • Work with AWS (cloud platform — data migration, tenant accounts, CloudTrace)
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform
  • Utilize ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS)
  • Manage source control, pipelines, and merge requests with GitLab CI/CD
  • Monitor application performance and user sessions with Dynatrace
  • Maintain consistently high engagement and ownership over your work
  • Work in an agile environment and adapt to changing requirements
  • Challenge ideas and be open to having your ideas challenged
  • Use AI tools in engineering work
  • Provide production support, monitoring, and incident response
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
