Within Broker-Dealer Service Engineering, Client Data Shared Services builds centralized capabilities that enable Schwab teams to access, move, and use client data efficiently. As a Software Development & Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and production support of high-volume services, data pipelines, and event-driven solutions. You will make sound technical decisions, resolve complex engineering challenges, and remain accountable for quality, reliability, and business outcomes from design through production. Success requires hands-on technical leadership, adaptability, and close collaboration with product, architecture, vendor, offshore, and internal engineering teams. You will also mentor engineers and advance responsible AI-assisted development practices that improve delivery while maintaining clear ownership of code quality and correctness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and production support of high-volume services, data pipelines, and event-driven solutions.
• Make sound technical decisions and resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Remain accountable for quality, reliability, and business outcomes from design through production.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, adaptability, and close collaboration with product, architecture, vendor, offshore, and internal engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience with Java, Spring, cloud technologies, and REST or SOAP web services in high-volume, highly available environments
• 3+ years of experience with distributed or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Yugabyte
• 3+ years of experience with real-time data processing and streaming solutions
