About the role

The Mid-Level Developer will design, develop, and support backend applications and API-driven solutions while contributing to software modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize RESTful APIs using Java-based technologies and modern application frameworks.
  • Develop scalable backend solutions leveraging technologies such as J2EE, Tomcat, Oracle RAC, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora, ElasticSearch, and OpenSearch.
  • Support cloud-native ETL development and automation workflows using AWS services such as Step Functions, Lambda, and related technologies.
  • Contribute to database architecture, design, development, administration, performance optimization, and operations for large-scale enterprise database environments.
  • Manage source control, development workflows, and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, and Jira.
  • Apply Agile development practices within a SAFe framework, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, deployment validation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and application maintenance activities.
  • Design and implement software improvements, integrations, and automation solutions to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to define requirements, participate in architecture discussions, and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within development teams when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a software engineer or backend developer.
  • Strong experience developing RESTful APIs, API design principles, and API security best practices.
  • Proficiency in Java and experience with API frameworks such as Spring Boot, JaxRS, or Jersey.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Strong database knowledge, including experience with Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora, data structures, algorithms, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with JavaScript and front-end frameworks such as VueJS is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe methodologies.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical designs, architecture documents, and solution recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with data discovery platforms such as OpenSearch is highly preferred.
  • Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Aurora, Lambda, and cloud best practices.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and automated deployment solutions.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and DevOps tools including Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or maintain Public Trust (High) clearance.
