Microelectronics RandD Engineer
About the role
Radiance Technologies, an employee-owned company, is seeking a candidate to join our Electronic Systems and Cyber Technologies Group. The role focuses on technical research and microelectronics design with an emphasis on hardware security and testing. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to investigate microelectronic trends and hardware vulnerabilities, including hardware exploitation, side-channel attacks, and anti-tamper techniques. Responsibilities include designing and testing printed circuit boards (PCBs), designing and simulating analog circuits, and prototyping designs on a field programmable gate array (FPGA).
Responsibilities
- Conduct technical research and microelectronics design with a focus on hardware security and testing
- Investigate microelectronic trends and hardware vulnerabilities, including hardware exploitation, side-channel attacks, and anti-tamper techniques
- Design and test printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Design and simulate analog circuits
- Prototype designs on a field programmable gate array (FPGA)
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a relevant technical field
- Two years of hardware engineering experience may substitute for the Master’s degree
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS security clearance
- Detail-oriented approach to work organization and documentation
- Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well on both local and distributed teams
Desired Qualifications / Skills
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Proficiency in hardware design languages: Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog
- Experience in digital and analog circuit design and testing
- SPICE simulation experience
- PCB design experience
- C/C++ programming for embedded systems using Linux OS with drivers or bare metal, including debugging via JTAG
- Signal processing and data analysis experience
- Hardware security experience
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and applications
- Python scripting for test environment creation and maintenance in simulation and development boards
- Tool experience with FPGA tools (Quartus, Vivado), circuit simulation (LTspice, Spectre), and PCB design (Altium, Allegro)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint)
