Microbiology Laboratory Assistant

Schedule

First Shift: Sunday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm & Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 4:00 PM

Pay

Starting rate $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Daily BacT/Alert quality control maintenance
• Removal of finalized cultures from the BacT/Alert
• Verifies Vitek temperature is acceptable
• Swab inoculation of Thio and TSB
• Log in specimens (electronically and manually)
• Pull discard tubes
• Daily temperatures/CO2 readings
• Log in new media, reagents and supplies
• Perform weekly eye wash/shower maintenance
• Perform weekly hood QC
• Incubator and refrigerator quarterly PM
• Troubleshoot the temperature monitoring system
• Weekly cleaning of irradiation/rinsate room
• File paperwork
• Change CO2 tanks
• 2nd check CTMS and manual log ins
• Clean lab spaces
• Organize and restock lab supplies
• MicroCheck tube discard
• Perform follow ups with branches as necessary
• Irradiation load specimens: log in specimens, label tubes
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be organized and willing to work a flexible schedule as needed
