Microbiology Lab Technician
About the role
The Iowa City Beauty Care Plant houses Manufacturing and Innovation operations and seeks dynamic and skilled team members. The role involves a variety of tasks including raw material and finished product microbiology testing, RO/DI water sampling, and environmental monitoring to ensure uninterrupted facility operation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct raw material and finished product microbiology testing
- Perform RO/DI water sampling and environmental monitoring
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through loss elimination and root cause problem solving
- Collaborate with all levels of the organization to build relationships and influence production and quality
- Take ownership of daily management systems, lab excellence, data integrity, and report critical issues to management
- Document and report on critical issues related to quality systems and performance goals
Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices
- College training in Biology/Microbiology, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree
- Good computer skills, including file and directory creation, email, and Microsoft Office
- Leadership skills: ability to collaborate and build relationships across the organization
- Ability to take ownership and improve and track Daily Management Systems, Lab Excellence, Data Integrity, etc.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and communicating in English, specifically with reading and writing procedures and reports
- Wear required safety personal protective equipment (eye protection, ear protection, safety shoes)

- Age 18 or older
Skills
- Basic lab equipment operation
- Climbing, standing, moving on stairs, ladders, and platforms
- Twisting, turning, bending, and standing on concrete floors for extended periods
- Operating, maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning automated equipment
- Maintaining accurate records and data
- Strong technical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of computers

Pay

Schedule
Full-time position. Technicians may be required to work overtime, including weekends, as needed due to changes in business volume and production requirements. Shifts and schedules may vary based on business needs.
