Microbiology Lab Technician

Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological testing on cosmetic products in accordance with USP standards.
  • Conduct method suitability testing to validate sterility procedures and eliminate antimicrobial interference.
  • Prepare and analyze samples for microbial enumeration and identification of objectionable organisms.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment to ensure sterility and accuracy.
  • Document all procedures, results, and deviations in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for microbiological testing workflows.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices.
  • Communicate findings and updates to the Lab Manager and relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in microbiological techniques and regulatory protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a microbiology lab, preferably in cosmetics or pharmaceutical testing.
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP/GCP standards.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with USP , , Suitability, and testing protocols.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality management systems.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain SOPs.
  • Experience in Preservative Efficacy Testing.

Pay and Schedule

  • The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday, with an 8-hour shift between 6 AM and 6 PM. Some weekends may be required for research studies.

About the Role

The role is critical to ensuring product safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The technician will be the sole lab operator under the supervision of the Lab Manager and must be proficient in microbiological techniques and regulatory protocols.
