About the Role
Educates students in the discipline of Microbiology, providing instructional experiences that support the mission and goals of the university and/or program. This position operates under the administrative direction of the Academic Dean and/or general direction of the Program Chair.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and delivers online courses and labs as needed.
- Evaluates student learning outcomes for expected course and program competencies.
- Participates in classroom and/or clinical instruction.
- Communicates institutional and program policies and goals to students, faculty, staff, and clinical affiliates as appropriate.
- Communicates course learning outcomes and expected student competencies.
- Participates in activities to remain current with advances in knowledge base, teaching and learning strategies, professional practice, trends, issues, and curricular resources.
- Participates in the assessment of Program Learning Outcomes as needed.
- Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Microbiology or related field, or Master’s Degree with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline, or Master’s Degree in a related or academically appropriate discipline and the terminal degree/certificate in the professional discipline.
- Work or teaching experience equivalent to two (2) years of post-secondary teaching in the discipline.
- Demonstrates basic currency with trends, issues, and practices in the profession or discipline.
- Current license/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee as appropriate to professional practice areas.
