MI- Utility Locate Technician

About the role

Utility Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including electric power lines, gas lines, and fiber optic lines (minimal). This position is crucial for ensuring compliance with client and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground facilities using a transmitter and hooking up to buried facilities, pedestals, etc.
• Work independently or in a team environment, working under assigned supervisors.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
• Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
• Communicate with management teams, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
• Problem-solve and work with others in a supervised team environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
• State issued driver's license
• Ability to problem-solve
• Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs
• Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
• Excellent communication skills
• Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
• Pass a DOT drug test

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
• Computer skills: 1 year (Preferred)
• Utility Locating: 1 year (Preferred)
• Driver's License (Required)
