About the role
Utility Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including electric power lines, gas lines, and fiber optic lines (minimal). This position plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with client and state requirements.
Responsibilities
- Locate underground facilities using a transmitter and hooking up to buried facilities, pedestals, etc.
- Work independently or in a team environment, working under assigned supervisors.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.
- Communicate with management teams, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment.
- Problem-solve and read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for multiple hours a day.
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and third parties.
- Use technology and tools necessary for the job.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
- State issued driver's license
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
- Excellent communication skills
- Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
- Pass a DOT drug test
