About the role

Performs various cleaning functions in assigned work area following established policies and procedures necessary to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms and other areas effectively using the ten-step cleaning approach to deliver a clean and safe environment.
• Cleans, disinfects, and maintains shower rooms and utility rooms, including hampers.
• Changes water after cleaning a maximum of three rooms or when water is visibly soiled.
• Maintains the housekeeping cart in a clean, neat order and stocks it for the next shift.
• Ensures all working equipment is cleaned and polished.
• Properly cleans and disinfects commodes, placing a paper band around the seat to indicate cleanliness.
• Cleans and disinfects IV poles, patient chairs, and furniture.
• Notifies supervisor of damaged furniture, soiled curtains, or other areas needing attention.
• Exercises protective equipment controls when dealing with bloodborne pathogens, including wearing protective equipment and following guidelines for handling and disposing of infectious waste.
• Follows proper procedures for cleaning and disinfecting contaminated areas.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees, recognizing and respecting cultural diversity.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external customers, utilizing interpreters when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Elementary-level education required; high school diploma or GED preferred.

Pay

$19.30 - $28.15 per hour.

Schedule

• 32 hours per week, evenings.
• Every other weekend (EOW) / Every other holiday (EOH).
