About the role

Position is responsible for the category management, supplier relationship management, value delivery, sustainability & resiliency of assigned categories with $100M+ in spend and a team of 1-3 direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of category strategy, strategic sourcing plans, and execution to ensure supply resilience, business continuity plans (BCPs), multi-year roadmaps for continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability to unlock value, deliver competitive advantages, and proactively support business needs.
  • Develop strategy including Supplier Segmentation, SWOT analysis, Should Cost Model, Industry Benchmarking, strategic considerations for category alternatives and qualification, and sustainable sourcing, all integrated into strategic sourcing plans.
  • Refresh category strategy at least once every 12 months to maintain competitive advantage and meet current business needs.
  • Utilize data and technology, including spend analytics, to identify sourcing and savings opportunities.
  • Develop risk management strategies based on market dynamics, supply and demand data, and historical trends. Secure approval and lead execution to improve total cost of ownership, cost visibility, and manage price fluctuations.
  • Build forecasts for annual and strategic budgeting plans leveraging market trends and information.
  • Leverage data and technology to drive efficiency and advance analytical capabilities.
  • Implement supplier relationship management programs and manage contract negotiations. Collaborate with supplier executives to secure preferential business terms and performance.
  • Establish regular meeting and governance cadences to manage engagement and deliver contractual commitments. Identify and activate benefits beyond contractual commitments.
  • Manage supplier performance issues and challenges, including potential exit plans due to loss of business, performance, or other risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new supplier identification, development, and qualification.
  • Routinely research relevant industry market trends and technology improvements to evaluate suppliers' capabilities and explore alternatives for cost and performance improvements.
  • Lead partnerships with Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, and other departments to drive innovation sourcing and continuous improvement, such as cost savings, quality improvements, alternate supplier qualifications, supplier diversity, and working capital improvement.
  • Minimize supplier proliferation and drive key Supply Chain 2.0 deliverables.

Requirements

  • Agile and flexible to changing demands and workload to ensure timely results.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate information and data into actionable recommendations and set strategic goals based on insights.
  • Experience with strategy, analytics, technology solutions or application of AI, and project management.
  • Strong experience leading RFPs and conducting contract negotiations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement and supply chain management principles.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience engaging business stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to learn at a challenging pace in a changing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP.
  • Regional travel in North America up to 25%.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in materials management, sourcing, procurement, or related supply chains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods and sourcing of both direct and indirect materials/services is preferred.
