The Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple is a 19-bed, high-acuity intensive care unit caring for critically ill trauma and complex surgical patients. Located within the region's only Level I Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin, the STICU provides advanced critical care through a collaborative, multidisciplinary team using leading-edge technology and evidence-based practices. As an AACN Silver Beacon Award-winning unit, the STICU is committed to nursing excellence, professional development, and exceptional patient outcomes in a fast-paced, academically focused environment.

Job Summary

As Nursing Manager, level 2 RN, you shape a positive team environment, ensure high-quality nursing practices, teamwork, and patient safety. You create plans, implement policies, manage resources, oversee finances, and manage quality improvement efforts. Arrange educational programs to meet goals and act as caregiver when needed.

  • Formulate and communicate a clear vision for nursing practices within your area of responsibility.
  • Involv supervisory and other staff in setting and accomplishing departmental goals.
  • Continually update your knowledge base with the latest evidence-backed clinical and leadership practices.
  • Foster a healing and supportive environment for patients, families, and fellow staff members.
  • Recognize development needs and facilitate educational opportunities for staff members.
  • Set a positive example of professionalism within the nursing field and work atmosphere.
  • Incorporate the organization's mission and goals into strategies for staff and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of three years' professional experience is required for this role.
  • RN licensed.
  • You also need Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days on the job.
