MGR - NURSING
Horizon Health Corporation is seeking a Nurse Manager to work on the inpatient psychiatric units (42 adult/dual diagnosis beds and 18 adolescent beds) in Montgomery, AL.
About the role
The Nurse Manager plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of overall nursing care to patients. They provide managerial support in conjunction with clinical leadership by supervising and evaluating all nursing and patient care personnel, contributing to facility goals, and participating on treatment teams.
Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and enforce a clinical staffing plan for direct reports, ensuring sufficient nursing personnel to meet patient care needs and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction in accordance with client hospital guidelines and nursing/program philosophies.
- Support professional growth and development of nursing staff through needs identification, individual training plans, participation in training programs, encouragement of continuing education, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor nursing personnel performance continuously and conduct regular performance evaluations for clinical direct reports.
- Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and outside health/social agencies to ensure efficient discharge plans and accurate admission histories.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required patient documentation.
- Continuously audit and review performance and documentation of direct reports for consistency and accuracy.
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals, and meeting regulatory standards.
- Maintain continuity among nursing teams through documentation and communication.
- Perform RN duties as needed or during staff shortages.
- Orient or mentor new nursing staff.
- Demonstrate crisis prevention experience and ability to manage anger, fear, hostility, and violence of others.
- Manage stress appropriately and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
- Apply proficient mathematical and analytical skills to clinical duties.
- Demonstrate above-average organization skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Use applicable software applications proficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by this position.
Requirements
- Active RN certification/license in the state of Alabama.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- CPR Certification required.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in nursing management.
- Experience in an acute care mental health setting required.
