Job Summary
The Neurophysiology Technologist Manager oversees the daily workflow, employee staffing assignments, and performing neurodiagnostic, neurophysiology, and other related diagnostic tests in the hospital. Works directly with patients daily and corresponds with medical providers, clinical leadership team, and other leaders. Functions as a resource person to physicians and their staff, family members, and hospital staff.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a resource person to physicians and their staff, family members, and hospital staff.
- Prepares patient and performs Electroencephalograms, Ambulatory EEG's, BAER's, VEP, TCD, TMS and other tests within your scope of practice.
- Edit and prepare test for reading by a physician and providers. Reports findings or concerns to reading physician and providers for prompt interpretation.
- Demonstrates customer service in all interaction, that is compassionate, courteous, friendly, non-judgmental, and demonstrates a respect for privacy.
- Cleans and maintains equipment (EEG machine and accessories).
- Use specific protocol for patient wires including taking them off and proper cleaning and storage.
- Some office responsibilities such as scheduling, filing, computer and telephone skills.
- Performs other duties as directed by the department leadership and medical directors.
- Scheduling, timekeeping, charge reconciliation, in-service/training as per departmental needs, in addition to other managerial functions.
- Covers Natus (or other vendors and applications) access management and system support, including clear ownership for account setup, troubleshooting, and vendor/IT communication.
- Maintains closed-loop follow-through on studies, workflow issues, and operational concerns by ensuring items are completed, escalated as appropriate, and communicated back to clinical teams.
- Supports reliability of core EEG (and other modality service) workflows across sites, including consistent study setup, upload processes, and handoff to reading providers.
- Maintains escalation pathways for equipment downtime, staffing gaps, and urgent clinical issues to minimize disruption to patient care and provider workflows.
- Ensures studies are appropriately named, uploaded, and readily available for review so reading providers are not required to spend time tracking down studies.
- Maintains basic data and volume tracking to provide operational visibility, identify workflow gaps, and support early intervention when issues arise.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Experience: 5 years of experience in the field of Neurodiagnostics. Preferred experience in a leadership position.
- Requires working knowledge of computer systems and the following software applications: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Skype, and PowerPoint).
- Natus Education: Graduate of 2 year accredited program in Electroneurodiagnostic technology or equivalent, required. Graduate of a two-year cardiovascular program or equivalent combination of training, preferred.
- Licenses / Certifications: BLS CPR for Healthcare Provider or Professional certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire. ABRET, preferred.
- Other: A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or may be obtained within 6 months of the start date).
- Special Requirements: Certification in at least one of the following areas: R.EEG. T., R.EP.T., R.VT.T., R.PSG. T., R.CAP. T.
