Responsibilities
- Conducts neurobehavioral studies such as QEEGs, neurobehavioral and psychological tests, and toxicology screenings (70%).
- Prepares for patient arrival, collaborates with referring provider to address, clarify, or identify potential issues related to conducting the study. Works with provider to problem-solve prior to patient arrival.
- Provides patients with instruction in preparation for the study.
- Manages the patient’s behavior during the acquisition of data, such as reduction of muscle artifact, reduction of blink frequency, management of eye movement and restlessness, so that the highest quality recording may be obtained.
- Performs basic data analysis, processes acquired clinical EEG, Evoked Potentials, and other neuropsychological data.
- Ensures all session data is documented in the patient chart.
- Retrieves and delivers studies, populates report templates, and provides subjective observational data for each study.
- Maintains laboratory cleanliness, including the stylization process between patients and proper handling and disposal of biological specimens.
- Collects data and maintains research database (20%).
- Ensures data is acquired, processed, and ready for interpretation 1-3 days after testing.
- Informs clinicians when data is ready for processing and when feedback is scheduled.
- Maintains laboratory notebook and clinical data; data on assessments, treatment goals, number of tests, brain wave frequencies, and session outcomes.
- Assures that all data is backed up and stored.
- Provides administrative support/data management for Brain to Behavior patients (10%).
- Ensures all supplies needed for functional operation of the lab are available, including software updates.
- Assists provider with updating and maintaining lab protocols.
- Explains the Brain to Behavior program and its various disciplines and offerings to patients and their families.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic infection control standards relating to patients and equipment.
- Experience and/or interest in research.
- Proficient with computers and qEEG/EP software.
- Familiarity with the International 10/20 system of electrode measurement and application.
- Ability to work with patients of all ages with psychiatric conditions.
- Knowledge of Windows applications for computers.
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Must have passed or be eligible for ABRET written board examination for EEG.
- Graduate of approved program for EEG or 2-3 years experience in EEG testing, performing tests on infants, children, and adults.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- 2-3 years' experience in EEG testing on children and adult populations.
Pay
The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $24.02-$36.03/hourly, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives.
