The Manager, Meter Services reports to the Sr. Director, Lighting and Meter Services and provides leadership in the specification, testing, maintenance, and procurement of revenue metering and load research equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of $77M in electric assets; accountable for execution of $14M O&M and capital budgets.
• Development of the annual budget for Meter Operations and analysis/control of all department expenditures.
• Selection, supervision, and development of supervisory and technical staff to cost‑effectively carry out department functions.
• Oversight of compliance activities for Tampa Electric’s revenue metering system relative to Florida Public Service Commission Rules, NERC, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
• Leadership over the transition to AMI metering.
• Leadership in metering initiatives such as changes to net metering, meter failure analysis, and meter process improvements.
• Participation in industry organizations and activities related to revenue metering.
• Direct supervision of Meter Mechanic Supervisors, Senior Engineer, Planners.
• Indirect supervision of Associate Engineer, Meter Mechanics, Translator Operators, Stores Personnel, Technical Support Analysts, Meter Data Specialists, Technical Assistants.
• Key internal relationships: Field Operations, Service area managers, Regulatory, Load Research & Forecasting, Customer Service, Billing, Business Planning.
• Key external relationships: Regulatory Agencies, metering equipment vendors, other utilities, SEE, AEIC.

Requirements

• Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field.
• Education Preferred: Master’s Degree in a related field.
• Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Professional Engineering Certification in the State of Florida.
• Related Experience Required: Minimum of six years of work experience in utility operations.
• Related Experience Preferred: Work experience in Meter Operations or Field Operations.
• Supervisory Experience Required: Three years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) Required: Leadership skills; negotiation skills; organization skills; high tolerance for stress; ability to achieve department goals under changing conditions; knowledge of the E&G budgeting and forecasting structure.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Preferred: Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Interest Based Bargaining Intent Book; familiarity with SAP ERP and BPC.

Schedule

Shift: 8 hr. × 5 days; irregular hours, overtime, and possible holidays may be required. Storm duty: responding to storms is a condition of employment.
