Responsibilities
- Support the hotel's commitment to providing an environment that treats Team Members with dignity, respect, and fairness.
- Proactively address day-to-day issues with managers, identify practical solutions to a range of HR matters, and recommend appropriate action to the Director of Human Resources.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources in conducting internal investigations; maintain accurate and complete investigation records; support the development of solutions to resolve issues.
- Aid in maintaining and updating property Policies & Procedures; coordinate the communication and distribution of these guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain awareness of union activity on property; escalate concerns to the Director of Human Resources as appropriate.
- Maintain working knowledge of the property CBA; assist in communicating and training department heads and managers on CBA policies.
- Assist with the coordination and execution of all recruitment activities, including the sourcing and selection of qualified candidates in partnership with department heads.
- Absorb all employment-related activities, including offers of employment, onboarding, relocation, and required new hire paperwork.
- Partner with departments to provide proactive coaching to Team Members; assist with developmental plans and terminations as needed.
- Ensure all termination paperwork is properly completed (e.g., exit interview, return of all hotel-issued property, locker inventory) and that the HRIS is updated accordingly to reflect separation of employment.
- Support and help drive Team Member recognition and engagement programs, including engagement activities and celebrations.
- Monitor the Workers' Compensation process and procedures; maintain related tracking and documentation; liaise with the third-party administrator as necessary.
- Process requests from federal, state, or private entities, including but not limited to wage garnishments, subpoenas, and release of information requests; partner with the Director of Human Resources as needed.
- Actively participate in the delivery and coordination of the Team Member Engagement Survey, including follow-up action plans.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of all pertinent information throughout the hotel, including all Human Resources records.
- Maintain awareness of labor relations activity on property; partner with the Director of Human Resources, General Manager, and regional support, and take approved action as necessary.
- Absorb all Human Resources activities and projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, with at least 1–2 years at the manager or senior generalist level.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Experience supporting employee relations matters, including investigations and progressive discipline, preferred.
- Experience in a union environment and familiarity with collective bargaining agreement administration preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Pragmatic problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities in a team-focused environment.
- Engaging, approachable personal presence consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
- Bilingual communication skills a plus, but not required.
