Full-time position (0.9–1.0 FTE) on Shift 1 (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
About the Role
The Facilities Manager supports the Director, Facilities Management in administering day-to-day facility operations and maintenance of buildings and their mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems. This role oversees contracted operations in assigned service areas, ensuring vendors meet contract requirements and deliver a positive experience for patients and staff. The Facilities Manager is responsible for annual budgets, monthly variance reporting, and coordinating minor construction and renovation programs.
Responsibilities
- Manages contracted facilities services, including building automation, pneumatic tube systems, overhead paging, infant abduction security, door access controls, parking & transportation, and clinical engineering.
- Oversees the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring data integrity and generating key performance indicators for leadership.
- Manages the facilities-related permit program, ensuring timely completion of internal and external permit activities and payment of fees.
- Maintains the hospital’s Facility Information System, ensuring accessibility and updates to floor plans, warranties, permit inventories, capital plans, and regulatory documentation.
- Supports the Director, Facilities Management in managing maintenance and operations for contracted services.
- Acts as a liaison with hospital and academic departments on campus-wide issues.
- Organizes, audits, and administers records required for TJC, IDPH, OSHA, and other regulatory authorities.
- Conducts regular inspections and rounding of facilities and ongoing projects to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.
- Implements preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in collaboration with the Department Director.
- Provides financial and operational reports to demonstrate fiscal and quality accountability.
- Negotiates and reviews vendor contracts and miscellaneous facilities-related service agreements.
- Reviews monthly financial statements, prepares budgets, and addresses budget variances related to facilities management.
- Responds to facilities emergencies at all hours, employing problem-solving skills to resolve issues promptly.
- Serves as a liaison to Safety, Security, EVS, Food & Nutrition Services, and the Finance Department.
- Prepares check requests, purchase orders, and other documents to execute service contracts.
- Hires, trains, develops, counsels, evaluates, and manages the performance of direct reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in facilities management, construction trades, or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in vendor contract management.
- Experience managing and maintaining a CMMS.
- Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to analyze problems and determine effective courses of action.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of experience in facilities management, construction trades, or a related field.
- Experience working in healthcare facilities management.
- Management experience.
- College degree.

- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Pay
$45.59 – $66.16 per hour. Rush salaries are determined by factors including education, job-related experience, skills, and internal equity.
