About the role
The Facility Environmental Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing environmental related tasks for the Reworld sites in Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Fox Valley, Winneconne and Osh Kosh), Indianapolis, IN and Cedar Rapids, IA. This position will drive effective internal management of Environmental programs to identify and prevent environmental incidents.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and coordinate worker training in areas governed by USEPA, state EPA, and other government agencies where applicable.
- Perform critical employee onboarding and orientation duties.
- Investigate, report, and review findings from all compliance near-miss reports, facility inspections, environmental testing results, and others where applicable.
- Ensure that training around critical subject matter including HAZWOPER, DOT Hazardous Materials, SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, Environmental Awareness, and client specific programs is completed.
- Perform external auditing as needed (disposal partner and client services) and internal auditing (field projects, truck terminals, wastewater treatment facilities).
- Manage relationship with regulatory authorities including inspectors, law enforcement, as well as the community.
- Ensure environmental compliance by providing interpretations and guidance, assisting with the preparation of and ongoing maintenance of environmental licenses and permits, providing review and feedback regarding non-routine environmental reporting and communications, and conducting site audits and compliance reviews.
- Using full knowledge of Environmental practices and standards, reviews, analyzes and other data, to confirm Environmental standards are met.
- Develops workable strategies to mitigate/eliminate compliance risks and provides recommendations to Director and/or business partners as required.
- Maintain membership affiliation and ongoing trainer education.
- Execute integration duties per new business unit acquisition.
- Ensure corporate programs and procedures are understood and implemented at each facility.
- Collaborate with the regional compliance lead to complete incident reports and generate monthly statistics.
- Attend and teaches training courses in the field for all relevant environmental tasks.
- Verify Reworld consistently remains up-to-date and current with local and federal regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science) or engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, etc.) or a related degree; in lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of Clean Water Act, SPCC, EPCRA, and RCRA requirements.
- 5 years of experience as a safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance in the area of CWA, CAA, and/or RCRA standards.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal regulation, OSHA regulations, and other consensus standards, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between business activities and relevant regulatory state, local and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to use critical thinking skills and rigorous logic and methods to solve challenging issues with effective solutions related to regulatory compliance.

Pay and Benefits
Pay range for the primary location of this position is: $99,000.00 - $141,500.00 USD per annum.
