Job Summary
Oversee all aspects of managing railroad production units, including manpower, scheduling, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safe work practices. Oversee operations, ensure resource efficiency, and provide technical expertise. Primarily support work in assigned location(s), while also supporting production work across the Division. Conduct regular meetings with the C&S, ET, B&B, and Transportation departments to ensure adequate support and approved track usage. Prepare and submit daily production reports to management and the weekend duty manager. Escalate any issues that may impact train movements or cause project delays.
Essential Functions
- Drive safety improvement through effective communication and oversight, including coaching.
- Direct and implement infrastructure maintenance projects and set production goals.
- Ensure work meets or exceeds Amtrak standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support development of efficient work methods and procedures to enhance safety and reliability.
- Monitor production reports and oversee administrative activities of the production unit.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
- Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Qualified or the ability to obtain, NORAC, AMT2, MW1000, RWP
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
- Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.
- 4+ years of relevant railroad operation management/supervisor experience (i.e., ARASA Supervisory experience or higher).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and customers at all levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office for various job functions.
- Expertise in C&S Design Inspection, Maintenance, and Construction.
- Knowledge of railroad operations, rules, and production work procedures.
- Familiarity with Federal Railroad Regulations, including Roadway Worker Protection and Track Safety Standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery.
- Strong time management skills and delegation abilities.
- Understanding and application of collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience in delivering presentations both internally and externally.
Pay and Benefits
- The salary/hourly range is $124,600.00 – $161,352.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
