About the role
The Manufacturing / Process Engineering Leader provides technical leadership across manufacturing systems, process validation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role spans applied engineering execution through strategic, multi-site leadership, with increasing responsibility for design governance, Six Sigma deployment, risk ownership, and business impact. The position serves as both a hands-on problem solver and strategic technical authority, influencing outcomes across areas, sites, and the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Develops manufacturing drawings, fixtures, tooling, and equipment designs, progressing to design approval authority, best-practice definition, and governance
- Applies and leads Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt through Black Belt mastery), including coaching and enterprise deployment
- Supports, leads, and defines process validation activities (IQ/OQ and beyond), scaling to enterprise validation strategy ownership
- Drives process optimization from lean methods and throughput improvements to strategic, enterprise-wide gains
- Ledds small to medium engineering projects and validation efforts
- Progresses to managing complex projects, large programs, and capital initiatives
- Owes portions of VIP initiatives, advances to capital planning and portfolio-level ownership
- Aligns technical programs with business strategy, capacity, and investment planning
- Participates in, leads, and governs RCA activities from defined issues to systemic, multi-site investigations
- Resolves increasingly complex, ambiguous, and cross-functional problems
- Establishes escalation paths, best practices, and enterprise RCA standards
- Applies structured problem-solving to deliver durable, scalable solutions
- Applies foundational manufacturing and strong system knowledge at early stages
- Develops deep domain expertise and becomes a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Advances to manufacturing expert and enterprise authority across multiple systems
- Sets technical direction, standards, and governance frameworks
- Leads technical solutions and owns recommendations for assigned scope
- Operates with high autonomy, progressing to fully autonomous and strategic authority
- Manages increasing decision complexity, including high, multi-variable, enterprise-impact decisions
- Communicates effectively across cross-functional teams and departments
- Influences teams and outcomes without formal authority
- Engages with site and senior leadership to shape technical direction
- Impacts value streams, sites, and enterprise performance outcomes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred for senior and enterprise roles
- Progressive experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial operations
- Demonstrated expertise in Six Sigma, validation, process optimization, and capital project execution
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without authority
