Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) is a diverse and global team with expertise in technology and financial analytics. The group is responsible for the research and development of quantitative financial and behavioral models and tools across areas such as single-security pricing, prepayment models, risk, return attribution, liquidity, optimization, portfolio construction, scenario analysis, and simulations, covering all asset classes. AFE also develops the technology platform that delivers these models to internal partners and external clients and integrates them with Aladdin. The team conducts leading research, publishes applied scientific work, and presents at industry conferences, while engaging with the sales team in client visits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and development of model governance workstreams as an individual contributor.
  • Collaborate with peer researchers, engineers, and team members across regions to develop and deploy quantitative financial models and portfolio analytics used to manage trillions of USD in assets.
  • Gradually grow into an experienced researcher capable of representing and presenting models and analytics to internal stakeholders and Aladdin clients.
  • Apply quantitative skills to address financial problems and issues encountered in BlackRock’s business.
  • Synthesize requirements from multiple stakeholders and translate them into actionable plans.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative/statistical modeling as a research/analytics professional.
  • Experience with market risk/factor models and portfolio risk analytics (VaR, Tracking Error, Stress Testing) is strongly preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, or a related field; an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline is a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial products and the risk management process is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to model backtesting, quality controls, and validation is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with statistical software (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB), with a strong background in programming, particularly Python.
  • Experience with large datasets and various machine learning algorithms is a plus.
  • Prior work experience in financial modeling (e.g., risk models, analytics) or data science, including model deployment to production environments, is a strong plus.

  • Management experience is preferred but not required.

Pay

For New York, NY, the salary range for this position is USD $137,500.00 – USD $170,000.00. Employees are also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and benefits, including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates on a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy, and total compensation may vary based on role, location, firm, department, and individual performance.

Schedule

BlackRock’s hybrid work model requires employees to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more in-office time based on their roles and responsibilities. New joiners can expect this hybrid model to accelerate their learning and onboarding experience.
