This is a full-time, non-civil service position in the Head Start program with the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Schedule
Work hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teacher
- Serve as a bus monitor
- Help children develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally
- Plan, document, and implement daily lesson plans and special activities
- Perform tasks associated with the education component and assure confidentiality
- Maintain proper supervision of children at all times indoors and outdoors
- Document and implement integration of component events in the classroom (e.g., handwashing, toileting, tooth brushing, preparing children for health services and community visits)
- Report any children concerns to the assigned Parent, Family, Community, and Engagement Advocate
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the immediate supervisor
- Ensure daily implementation of the family style food service
- Support and assist volunteers serving in the education program
- Assume other task-related duties as requested
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and willingness to enroll in a CDA Program
- Valid Driver License
- Residency in the State of Tennessee or willingness to become a resident within six months of employment
- Subject to extensive background checks and random drug tests
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience with young children
- CDA or AA degree in Early Childhood Education
