Job Summary

Advanced skill work on journeyman level in repairing, testing, and installing a wide variety of electric meters and related metering equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following, other duties may be assigned. (The duties listed are intended to serve as an example of the typical functions performed. They are not exclusive or all-inclusive and will vary with assignments.)

  • Tests, repairs, installs & removes, turns on and turns off all types of electrical meter equipment including primary voltage equipment
  • Install, remove and analyze single phase and 3 phase power monitoring equipment
  • Wires CT rated meter cans, tests and wire current and potential transformers in the field
  • Record test data, completes service orders, and other clerical functions
  • Performs current diversion and meter tampering investigations
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot School zone Lights and EV charging stations
  • Troubleshooting AMI System issues

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel and the general public
  • Must possess a State of Florida driver's license

Education and Experience

  • Meterman Journeyman or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Graduation from High school diploma/GED
  • Four years as a Meterman Journeyman
  • Computer experience is necessary

Knowledge, Ability and Skills

  • Knowledge of basic electricity as applied to light and power, meter applications and AMI/AMR Systems
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with all types of meters and metering circuits of all electric service rendered by the Company
  • Knowledge of operating a computer as related to electric meters and meter monitoring equipment
  • Knowledge of safety practices relating to electricity

Work Environment

Position involves moderate to heavy work in an outdoor setting with exposure to loud noises, chemicals, debris, air and waterborne pathogens. There is frequent need to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands, arms and legs, climb, kneel, stoop and lift medium objects (up to 50 pounds), use of ariel devices (bucket truck) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. All full-time employees are considered critical in response to emergency situations and may be deemed essential as needed depending on the situation. Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment. Certain positions may be required to attain additional ICS training as needed.
