Job Summary/Description
- Produce and deliver daily weather forecasts for newscasts (weekday and/or weekend assignments as scheduled).
- Track, interpret, and communicate weather conditions using radar, satellite, model data, and local observations.
- Provide authoritative breaking/severe weather coverage, including wall-to-wall coverage when required.
- Create weather graphics and explain complex meteorology in an accessible, viewer-friendly way.
- Publish frequent digital updates (web/app/social), including short-form video and push-alert style messaging.
- Develop weather-related enterprise content (seasonal preparedness, climate/local impact explainers, community safety).
- Participate in community outreach (school visits, station events)
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated on-air experience forecasting and presenting weather (reel/links required).
- Strong understanding of forecast models, radar interpretation, and severe weather operations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in high-pressure, live environments.
- Proficiency with weather systems/graphics (e.g., WSI, Baron, Weather Central) and newsroom tools.
- Strong writing and editorial judgment for digital and social platforms.
