Meteorologist
WPDE in Myrtle Beach, SC is looking for a qualified candidate to join our team of meteorologists. You will collaborate on weather segments, live-breaking and severe weather events, and produce weather-related stories and content for digital and social platforms. Alongside the Chief and other Meteorologists, you will shape the content of weather casts for both on-air and digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Forecast, produce, and present clear and concise weather casts that tell a story and connect with viewers
- Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events
- Utilize social media during severe weather and write weather stories
- Make public appearances on behalf of the station
- Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of forecasting
- Sharp news judgement and exceptional writing skills
- Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
- Ability to produce impactful content for social media
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- 2+ years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred
