Meteorologist

About the role

KREX-TV seeks an experienced Meteorologist to join our dynamic team in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality weather content for television, digital, and social platforms.
• Demonstrate clear, engaging, and meaningful presentation skills.
• Utilize social media to engage viewers and users with weather content.
• Write web stories detailing the local forecast daily.
• Achieve company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming and other content.
• Respond to breaking and severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations.
• Participate in promotional activities including public appearances.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad lib when required.
• Proficiency with weather computer systems.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of meteorology and a proven track record of forecasting.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work any shift.

Pay

$35,360.00 annually, or commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, full-time position.
