About Us

The Oregon City, OR site was established in 1969 and joined the Orchid team in 2012. The site focuses on investment casting, 3D wax printing, machining, finishing, and coating of orthopedic implants for extremities and large joint markets. Key capabilities include robotic wax assembly, internal tool and design, finished machining, polishing, and sintered bead coating. The 80,000 square foot, FDA-registered site employs approximately 175 team members and manufactures nearly 1 million hip and knee joint implants annually. The facility is fully integrated, producing medical implants from start to finish in compliance with ISO 13485:2016 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate auto and manual cleaning and passivation line.
  • Operate laser marking equipment.
  • Perform product cleaning and visual inspection.
  • Perform cleaning operations of castings using various sandblast equipment per tech card.
  • Inspect and maintain blast cabinets, media, nozzles, and hoses to ensure proper cleaning.
  • Use conventional belting equipment for specific belting operations based on engineering drawings (e.g., Fiber-wheel finish and/or Satin finish).
  • Use air and/or electric handheld tools for grinding, deburring, or detailing confined areas or inside diameters of cylindrical parts.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
  • Determine proper media, machine, and machine settings based on engineering drawings and/or work instructions.
  • Complete documentation including process routing cards, salvage routers, and scrap forms.
  • Use hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables to safely transport product.
  • Maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, and unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
  • Follow designated safety rules and regulations.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
  • Dimensionally inspect work using tools such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, measuring instruments, and surface plates.
  • Perform weekly housekeeping per 5S schedule.
  • Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
  • Reinforce safety expectations, ensure safe operating practices, and report issues/concerns to Supervisor.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Complete all required training.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred).
  • No previous work experience required (Preferred).
  • Manufacturing experience (Preferred).
