Metal Fabricator II
About the role
As part of the talented Operations team, you will set up and operate automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
- Measuring and marking out placement for components
- Setting up metalwork machinery including cold saw, drill presses, band saw, notcher, belt sander, tape measure and/or calipers
- Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work
- Fabricating and constructing metal components
- Grinding and finishing completed products
- Performing quality checks on completed products
- Conforming with state and company safety regulations
- Completing daily logs
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
- At least one-year of experience as a Metal Fabricator or manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
- Ability to follow all training procedures in place
- Ability to perform basic math skills (adding, subtracting, fractions, and decimals)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools, including cold saw, tape measure, band saw, general power tools and drill presses
- Good understanding of quality control principles
- Good communication skills
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Good physical condition
Working Conditions
- Standing for full shift; walking; sitting; using hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reaching with hands and arms; talking and hearing
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Non-A/C work area; noise level can periodically be higher than normal; hearing protection may be required
- Ability to lift and manipulate large metal pieces
- Ability to stand for long periods
Pay
The anticipated pay range for this position is $18–$23 per hour. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
