About the role
The Pennsylvania Drilling Company, founded in 1900 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, seeks a Welder Metal Fabricator to play a key role in building and maintaining high-quality, durable equipment for the heavy construction and foundation industries.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints to fabricate and assemble equipment.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape metal components with precision.
- Set up and operate metalworking machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, saws, and shears.
- Weld using MIG and TIG processes; grind and finish completed products.
- Perform quality checks to ensure all products meet engineering specifications and company standards.
- Assemble, test, and prepare equipment for rental or sale.
- Perform service, maintenance, and repairs on company and rental equipment.
- Paint, chip grout, pressure wash, and clean equipment as needed.
- Operate company vehicles, including heavy-load transport, forklifts, overhead cranes, and hand trucks, safely.
- Complete job reports, cycle counts, and other inventory or production documentation.
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all state and company safety regulations.
- Assist with shop maintenance, shipping/receiving, and other operational tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- AWS certification or advanced welding experience, desired.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures, preferred.
- Experience in metal fabrication, required.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, required.
- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools, including shears, rollers, flame cutters, saws, and drill presses, required.
- Advanced mathematical and engineering skills required.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing systems and troubleshooting tasks, required.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Strong work ethic and career-driven mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Good communication skills.
- Own basic tools.
- Valid state driver’s license and clean MVR.
- DOT eligibility required.
