Essential Functions
- Read and interpret level 1 blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
- Layout and mark dimension and reference lines for level 1 complex projects.
- Plans, layouts and fabricates metal parts, equipment, and products on level 1 machines within router time with little to no supervision.
- Identify materials using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Perform operator maintenance on level 1 equipment.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Secures tools, materials, and equipment at end of day.
- Ensures work orders are properly followed and completed in a timely fashion.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months fabrication or machine shop experience, or equivalent technical training/certification generally required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to maintain good attendance.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to co-workers, management, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, management, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as job orders, procedure manuals, and schematics (blue prints).
- Ability to read and understand tape measurements and decimals (standard and metric) and perform basic addition/subtraction (decimals and fractions).
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Skill in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures.
- Ability to use department equipment such as forklift, ladder/scaffold, overhead crane, and power tools.
