Metal Fabrication Supervisor- 1st Shift
About the role
Vertiv Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Production Supervisor – Metals for their 1st shift. The role involves assisting in managing the production floor to produce the final product, following standard work methods, practicing safe work habits, and ensuring production efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the production floor and warehouse operate safely.
- Properly staff machines or production lines based on workload.
- Conduct evaluations and mid-term assessments on assigned personnel.
- Ensure product quality meets specifications and criteria.
- Communicate process concerns or changes to employees.
- Set production quotas and provide feedback on performance.
- Makes production-related decisions, including task assignments, material/equipment handling, and resource allocation.
- Review relevant information with incoming supervisors during shift change meetings.
- Maintain product quality by making necessary adjustments to machines or production lines.
- Eliminate overtime unless approved by the Production Manager.
- Support operators as needed to keep product moving through the work cell.
- Follow instructions from engineers and managers.
- Accurately report production information to managers.
- Keep work areas clean and orderly.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform duties as backup during the absence of the Production Manager.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years’ supervisory experience.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience with MS Office and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of ISO and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma.
- CNC operating experience preferred.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments like calipers, protractors, etc.
Physical & Environmental Demands
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Light manufacturing and forklift operations are desirable. Time travel required: none.
