General Function
Operate CNC laser cutting machine, press brake, welding machines, and other fabrication equipment to perform a series of fabrication operations while following work instructions and procedures to construct fabricated product to Belvac quality standards.
Physical Requirements
- Long periods of standing (up to 10 hours/day).
- Ability to operate overhead cranes.
- Occasionally lift items by hand; must follow correct lifting techniques and use mechanical lifting aids as appropriate.
- Good eye‑hand coordination.
- Use of hand tools, files, sanders, and grinders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate machinery safely and follow all established Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Operate CNC laser cutting machine, press brake, MIG and TIG welders, roller, drill press, shear, band saw, hand‑held power tools, and other fabrication equipment.
- Read prints, shop orders, tooling instructions, and layout sheets to determine product specifications, select the most appropriate process, and construct product to Belvac quality standards.
- Read laser g‑code programs and compare with part drawings to prevent errors.
- Observe machine control panels and verify data against job documentation to ensure proper process.
- Communicate with Manufacturing Engineering to correct set‑up sheets, programs, or processes as needed.
- Troubleshoot fabrication problems and implement corrective actions.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Perform hand layout of sheet metal parts for cutting, bending, and drilling when needed.
- Repair sheet metal components to meet Belvac’s aesthetic quality requirements.
- Use precision measuring and layout instruments such as a scale, square, caliper, and micrometer.
- Deburr and part‑mark as needed.
- Assist in sanding, grinding, polishing, and sand blasting when needed.
- Maintain a clean and neat work area and keep assigned machines clean.
- Perform preventative machine maintenance.
- Adhere to Belvac’s documented Quality Management System as it pertains to the role.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce set‑up and run‑time standards.
