About the role
Messaging Systems Engineer II is a mid-level position responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of core company systems through monitoring performance metrics, maintaining and updating servers and software, supporting technical incidents and user management, and developing end-user business solutions. This role supports messaging and requires communication with end users, other IT professionals, vendors, and adherence to standard guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
- Monitors performance metrics.
- Maintains and updates servers and software.
- Supports data and system needs of users and documents appropriately.
- Supports technical incidents and user management.
- Knows how to warehouse data, backup, and recovery.
- Configures databases.
- Designs and implements business solutions.
- Defines data and system requirements.
- Performs ad hoc troubleshooting.
- Manages and maintains site-related documentation.
- Produces progress, problem, and status reports as required by management.
- Manages service providers for prompt problem resolution.
- Handles Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management.
- Performs hardware and software installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Monitors and tunes performance.
- Implements system backup, recovery methods, and disaster recovery processes.
- Facilitates group interaction to accomplish tasks and solve technical problems.
- Manages small projects.
- Provides peer training.
- Conducts capacity planning.
- Performs small-scale infrastructure design and implementation.
- Researches and recommends solutions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or Undergraduate degree preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience.
- Relevant Information Technology certifications preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, including HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Privacy and Security, and PCI.
- Intermediate, demonstrated understanding in troubleshooting multi-tier architecture.

Experience in implementation, administration, and support of one or more of the following technologies:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later to support enterprise applications.
- Microsoft M365 Exchange Online.
- Microsoft SharePoint 2019 or later and M365 SharePoint Online.
- Microsoft M365 Defender and Compliance.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM 9 or later.
- Microsoft Teams.
- Microsoft Power Platform and Dataverse.
- Microsoft InTune Endpoint Management.
- Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Microsoft Active Directory and Entra.
- Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
- ProofPoint Email Gateway and Archive Services.
- OpenText RightFax 10.6 or later.
- Video CMS to support large corporations (Panopto).
- Scripting languages (PowerShell, Perl, Linux shell, etc.).
This position must sit at our Home Office in Birmingham, AL.
