Location: Charlotte, NC – Remote, East Coast or Central US time. 25% travel possible based on project need.
About the role
This position will work with business leaders, users, and IT resources to define, develop, implement, and support standardized Siemens Opcenter (formerly Camstar) MES solutions across a global environment.
Responsibilities
- Establish best practices and develop Corning's architecture for manufacturing systems.
- Design, implement, and support manufacturing systems in accordance with standard Corning IT practices.
- Demonstrate strong technical understanding and hands-on experience with technologies such as .NET, AJAX, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL Server BI components.
- Engage with internal and external customers to analyze requirements from both a business and systems perspective by interpreting business goals and objectives and translating them into technical solutions.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of ERP, MES, shop floor controls, and how they integrate to provide a complete plant solution.
- Ensure development work is completed on schedule and that impacts to manufacturing systems are thoroughly documented and communicated while serving as the technical lead on global projects.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Systems Management, IT, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience using object-oriented programming languages such as .NET and C#.
- Experience working with IT systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of source code management systems such as Git, TFVC, and SVN.
- In-depth knowledge of relational databases.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of industry best practices in application development.
Desired Skills
- Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems, specifically Siemens Opcenter modeling and Designer.
- Proven track record of implementing IT solutions that meet business demands and are technically sound.
- Understanding of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and the current Angular framework.
- Experience working in a Scrum/Agile team.
- Strong communication, presentation, organizational, facilitation, and negotiation skills, including the ability to “translate” between business and technology needs.
- Ability to continuously prioritize and multitask efficiently.
- Ability to influence decisions through critical thinking based on experience and a strong grasp of the strategic intent of the project.

Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (no overtime anticipated).
