MES Architect

About the role

We have a new 12-month contract opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Solutions Architect supporting manufacturing system design and implementation. This is a remote, onshore role, with a preference for candidates in the Chicago area and approximately 5% travel.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate manufacturing systems across enterprise IT and operational technology environments.
• Define end-to-end architectures, APIs, data flows, integration patterns, and scalable platforms across multiple plants or regions.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure systems support organizational business requirements and meet end-user needs.
• Define systems requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
• Define technical standards and functionality tests; may develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides.
• Lead and direct the work of others, performing a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Requirements

• 8–11 years of experience designing and integrating manufacturing systems.
• Experience with ERP, MES, WMS, PLM, PLCs, SCADA, historians, industrial IoT, and shop-floor equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
• Experience with niche or emerging technologies such as BIG Data, CRM, Enterprise Architect, SAP, and TIBCO.

Schedule

40 hours per week, with occasional off-hours support for critical issues.
