About the Role

Exempt positions are responsible for managing profit and loss for assigned merchandise assortment(s). This role focuses on developing and executing strategic merchandise plans to maximize product sales and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and execution of strategic merchandise plans aligned with overall Merchandising business strategies.
  • Gathers and analyzes industry trade data, customer insights, competitor trends, market conditions, financial, and operational data to create actionable market intelligence reports.
  • Translates data into executable demand forecasting to anticipate future merchandise needs.
  • Evaluates vendor capabilities and selects suppliers that align with the company’s merchandising strategies; develops and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Recommends improvements to procurement processes to enhance service, quality, or reduce costs.
  • Creates executable inventory plans and identifies opportunities for new business.
  • Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources when existing vendors are no longer competitive.
  • Expands and improves merchandise assortments while managing quality, sourcing, and delivery to ensure profitability.
  • Defines product and distribution standards for assigned merchandise and assesses supplier capabilities to meet those standards.
  • Monitors supplier performance and resolves quality or fulfillment concerns to maintain consistent standards.
  • Gathers product quotations, examines bids, negotiates costs, and awards contracts to ensure customers receive the best quality at the best value.
  • Monitors merchandising costs, performance schedules, and contract scope to ensure efficiency.
  • Collaborates with management to address profit and loss issues and works with cross-functional teams to execute merchandising strategies.
  • Follows legal guidelines and requirements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of end-to-end merchandising experience in procurement, demand forecasting and planning, and vendor relations, preferably within eCommerce.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability to collaborate with others to understand and complete project goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with suppliers and employees at all levels.
  • Strong time management and decision-making skills; ability to prioritize and organize tasks and projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines, work independently, and be proactive.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work effectively and collaboratively across departments to meet goals.
  • Highly developed, creative problem-solving and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SQL skills.
  • Graduate degree in Merchandising, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or a related field.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
